Paul,
Since we have a solid 3/4 retreat down, I would like to begin work on a 4/4 set, possibly an easy 2/4 ( I despise 2/4's ) and an easy 6/8. Give me your suggestions for these.
Thanks
Mick

Hi Mick,
Suggestions for 4/4, 2/4, and 6/8 sets...
4/4 set: Scotland the Brave, The Rowan Tree, Wings. Scotland the Brave was a march or duty tune for most of the old regiments. The Rowan Tree is a duty tune for the Irish Guards. Wings is the regimental march for the Royal Engineers.
2/4 Set: Highland Laddie, The Barren Rocks of Aden, The Brown haired Maiden (aka The Nut Brown Maiden). Highland Laddie was the regimental quick march or a duty tune for most of the Highland regiments, the HLI, and the Scots Guards. The Barren Rocks of Aden was a company march for the Royal Scots. The Brown Haired Maiden was a company march for the Scots Guards, the Black Watch, the Gordons, and the Argylls. An alternate for one might be Jenny's Bawbee which was a duty tune for The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.
6/8 set: Kenmure's On and Awa, Atholl Highlanders, Bonnie Dundee. Kenmure's and Atholl Highlanders were regimental marches of the Cameronians/Scottish Rifles. Bonnie Dundee was a company march for the Gordons, the King's Own Scottish Borderers. and either the Royal Scots or the HLI. An alternate for the lot might be All the Blue Bonnets Are over the Border, a regimental march or duty tune for the Argylls, the HLI, the KOSB, the Royal Scots, and the Scots Guards.

Got em down!
I like your set up here Paul: All the 4/4's are standard hack tunes but easy enough for our newbies. Love Wings and Rowan Tree.
The 2/4's are nice, but very tough. Love BRofA though. Highland Laddie is nice.
6/8's :: agreed. Atholl and Bonnie Dundee ar the foundation to that set!

Hi Mick,
Just one request...I'd rather not play the 6/8s at standard Cameronian marching speed (140 beats/minute).
