Oh so true. The piper, Bill Millin, is getting ready to hit Sword Beach with 1st Special Service Brigade. The brigade commander, Lord Lovat, is in the water to the right of the column of men.

Hi Mick just to update some of your picture titles the 2nd pic with Churchill is a Beating Retreat by the Highland Division I think in England some time before embarking for France Of note is the Pipe Major to the Right of Churchill!!! This is the last Piper Killed in World War 2; P/M John Whyte, Scottish Horse
The 5th Pic is Piper Edward Lawson 5th Bn The Black Watch unfortunately when it was published years ago the wrong name was put on it it was painted around the time of the Victory Parade in Tripoli note his arm is still bandaged from his wound.
