DEPORTMENT

1. Definition
di-ˈpȯrt-mənt, dē-\ Noun. The way that a person behaves, stands, and moves especially in a formal situation.

2. Band Deportment
Deportment in Lost Battalions Pipe Band is the key to the band's success on parade. Pipers, drummers and dancers must affect the proper attitude, wartime "look", coupled with proper drill to carry off the type of impression the band wishes to present to the viewing public. Band deportment is the sum total of a band's self-worth, the way it views itself in public, the way it wishes to be viewed by other pipe bands.

DRILL
The Lost Battalions Pipe Band trains and drills according to standard British Army Pipe Band drill based off the 1935 Close Order Drill Manual, Household Division during the Second World War. The band will make exceptions to the rule in certain situations ( pub settings, funerals, etc. ) in order to adequately carry off its duties.

The Lost Battalion Pipe Band wears the dress of pipers from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders as they were attired in Singapore, prior to the fall of the strategic city to the Japanese in 1942.

- Black Watch tartan kilt.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Lost Battalions Pipe Band is a regimental-style, military-based Scottish Highland bagpipe and drum corps band. It seeks to honor the service and sacrifice of all Second World War ( 1939-45 ) Allied forces veterans who served and those taken prisoner in the Far East in particular, 1940-42.

The Lost Battalions Pipe Band is a not-for-profit musical entity with connections and affiliations purely musical to British and United States Armed Forces veterans, family members and relatives of veterans who served during the war.
